Krishti’s Own Operating Space – A Dream Come True

It had been a long and strong cherished desire of the members and associates of Krishti to have an exclusive space for their favourite club.

The desire was transformed into reality in the year 2007.
The apartment no. 401 in a centrally located building of the Lokhandwala Township, named Autumn Grove, is Krishti’s own premise. The premise is fondly and proudly referred to as the “Club House”.

The traditional House Warming celebration took place on 2007, July.
The feather to the cap is that all financial liabilities related to the premises had been cleared by the 4th quarter of 2008. Hence Krishti can now proudly claim to be the owner of a debt free property.

This is a stupendous achievement for any social association, in Mumbai, at such a young age of just above ten years.

Krishti salutes with deepest gratitude, all the beloved members and associates whose unified, dedicated, voluntary yet enthusiastic contribution, be it, physical, intellectual, or financial, made this realistic transformation of a dream.

With increase in activities and increasing involvement the “Club House” is progressively becoming a solicited social junction for all its members, associates and well wishers.

Telephone Directory – The Bonding Booklet

Life in Mumbai is notoriously unsocial; The strain & stress for livelihood eats up predominant chunk of a 24 hour routine. Bengalis, on the contrary, are by their traditional virtue, a very socially active community.

Krishti’s annually published booklet – the “Telephone Directory” aptly bridges the gap.

As the name suggests the booklet contains Building wise, flat nos., family members name, contact nos. and e-mail ids. This ready reference greatly enables and augments interfamily interactions, keeping alive the urge of social bonding.

Information can get snowballed in shortest possible time across the members and associates an immediate advantage in case of an emergency situation.

The booklet also contains other important Helpline nos. The contents are upgraded and updated with every new edition.

All users have found this to be really a very handy ready reckoner.

Krishti Barta – The Literary Link

Being outside of Bengal, the exposure to Bengali literature is not a common opportunity.

“Krishti Barota” – a periodic In – House Journal absolutely in mother tongue is an initiative from Krishti to instill a taste of Bengali reading amongst all its members & associates.

The contents enriched with articles, short stories, poetry, riddles have consistently been a welcoming treat for the literary appetite. Occasional guidelines for typical Bengali cuisines have also been a treat for the gastronomical appetite.

The Journal offers a dual medium of delight not only for the readers but also for the writers who can showcase their latent talent.

Krishti Barota has evolved as a small yet satisfying initiative towards upholding the spirit of the rich Bengali culture.

Krishti Sharodotsab Souvenir -- The Culmination of Culture and Commerce

Krishti started celebrating the biggest Bengali festival, Durga Puja, from year 2005.

Since then every year Krishti releases a Souvenir titled “Sharodotsab” to commemorate the grand celebration.

It comes out in its colourful best and is a confluence of literary contributions from among the members and associates in terms of Articles, Stories, Poems not only in Bengali but also in English. This opportunity paves way for those aspirants who have a strong ability in expressing their feelings in English. There is also a dedicated section for the best drawings from the Childrens’ Drawing competition – the event which has become an integral part of the celebration. Photographs capturing glimpse of diversified mood of the celebration adorn the book.

Our festivity owes a lot to the Partners of the cause (the Sponsors), whose financial contribution adds glamour and magnitude. The Souvenir becomes an important vehicle to advertise the Sponsors commitment to social cause and festivity.

Krishti Benevolent Fund (KBF) – The Companion with Compassion

Krishti is never biased to be a buddy only for good times; Krishti’s dream is to be a beloved companion of life for its members and associates.

Krishti’s heart bled when two of its members became the victim of the barbarian serial train bomb blast on 7th of July 2007 . It made two happy families plunge from the lap of peace and security to the daring jaws of cruel reality and uncertainty. It was a great realization that no amount of sympathy and or empathy can mend the trauma of two humble housewives and two innocent kids.

In an endeavour to lend support the future of the bereaved families, Krishti rose up to the occasion and decided to make a long term commitment.

Since the disaster Krishti has been bearing the school expenses of the two kids and is committed to continue till the entire curriculum.

In the last 2 years, Krishti has added 3 more kids from 2 families under the umbrella who also lost their father in unfortunate situations. Today Krishti takes care of the education of 5 children of Lokhandwala Township.

Krishti sincerely wishes the families a great future ahead.

While touching the lives of the needy, Krishti is itself touched by the generosity of all its members, associates and well wishers who have all through been contributing to the cause.
It is really heart warming to see the kids fairing successfully in their classes and steadily sailing along with the mainstream of life. It gives immense pleasure and pride to see our benevolence bearing the fruit.

KBF is a corpus entirely dependant voluntary donations from individual and organisations. With the grace of Almighty the Fund has till now been successfully adhering to its promise and is confident to continue. With increasing uncertainties unforeseen tragedies of life KBF might need more more hands to hold.

It appears apt to share that while Krishti would like to be a Companion with Compassion to the extent possible, but it also prays to God adequate take care of all so that ideally KBF is not required by any. But, Man Proposes God Disposes.

Krishti invites all with open arms to help make KBF stronger and richer to meet unforeseen eventualities.

It will be a pleasure if you wish to be Krishti’s Friends Indeed by Being Friends in Need.

HELPING CHILDREN OF VISA TO GROW

A Vision of Harmony

KRISHTI and VISA are partners on the road less traveled. United by a vision of a society where childhood is not lost under the burden of deprivation. Where each child has the right to hope and happiness, where every child can walk without fear with his head held high. Where care is shared concern and joy is a shared emotion. Donate towards this aim and take KRISHTI and VISA further along the road to harmony.

VISA (Vision in Social Arena), the brainchild of Mr. John Abraham is a Christian humanitarian organization, which has worked tirelessly since 1997 (registered on 2002) to transform the lives of children living on the streets and provide emotional and medical relief to the terminally ill or destitute. Under their project, Transforming street Life, Visa is working for the rehabilitation of street children by supporting their education, food, clothing, and shelter, with aim of making them self-reliant.

At present, there are 39 former street children under Visa's care living with foster parents in 3 charitable homes in Mira Road, Mumbai. They get systematic education at good schools or at vocational training institutes, along with proper counseling and value based spiritual guidance. At these lovely and compassionately-run homes, Divine home (Boys), Anmol Home(Girls) and Gaurav Home (Small children both boys and girls), the children enjoy recreational and developmental facilities.

They learn and laugh together, growing up in an atmosphere of loving discipline, achieving their full potential and hidden dreams.

Come let us travel together on their journey of self-realization.

Bengali Learning Class - Back to Basics

Bengali language is rated to be one among the richest in its literature and culture --- It is a fact.
But like the Proof of the Pudding is in the Eating – the richness of Bengali literature can only be enjoyed once it is being read.

It is a disgrace if being a Bengali, one is deprived of the affluent heritage, just because he/she does not know to read the script of the Mother Tongue.

Sounds very unfortunate indeed !!

But a harsh reality remains that the next generation of our members and associates who are being brought up in Mumbai, have no exposure to this illustrious language. They are neither included in their academics nor do they generally have the scope to learn at home. Well, Krishti identifies this impending lapse and strives not to make our own children to be alien to our basics.

Krishti is currently running the first session of introducing Bengali language to our Kids.

The weekly classes are held at the Club House every Sunday morning and are being voluntarily conducted by a group of spirited and enthusiastic “Boudis”. The response has been very encouraging.

The kids attending first sessions are all enjoying their “Homely” classes --- hardly realizing enough that they are paving their way to a wonderful universe.

Krishti is obliged to the Boudis for their valuable social service unfolding the vista of literary excellence to the future Bangali Babus.

Krishti once again encourage the spirit of “Bangaliana in Bombay”.

Computer Literacy for Housewives - The Race of Progress

Krishti’s ethics supports and values progress.

Krishti recognizes and values the unfathomable support of the silent partners of our Progress --- the housewives

It is imperative to say with an honest admission that our housewives do not always receive the due priority in the path of upgrading individual knowledge to enhance their progress.

Krishti proudly takes up this responsibility and computer literacy has been identified as an important area to start.

In collaboration with the organisation with high repute, Aptech, Krishti has organized computer literacy programme meant exclusively for the silent partners.

The initiative has been appreciated by all and the response for the enrolment has been to such an extent that more than one batch has to be organized to meet up the demand. The queue for the subsequent batches is also quite impressive.

The course module aims at imparting theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to Windows Word, Excel and Power point.

It is never wise to underestimate the capabilities of our housewives and with relevant knowledge and skills enhancement they can always prove to be better partners in progress.

Krishti builds the Nation’s Future – “The Generation Next”

The baton of the current efforts of building a strong foundation of Krishti has to be passed on to the able hands of “Generation Next” to ensure its success in the long run. In a larger perspective our motherland herself is in great need of being in the hands of honest, intelligent and educated citizens. For the best possible results, the process of this achieving this vision needs to be started at the young age itself.

Krishti feels it has the responsibility to help nurture our sons and daughters towards a bright future. For this task of Nation Building exercise Krishti has very prudently extended its hands beyond their members and associates. It has welcome young aspirants from across communities and for this gesture it has received a lot of acclaim.

Krishti has joined hands with the renowned Academic Coaching organisation called the RAO IIT ACADEMY from Kota to conduct regular coaching classes in our Township to make the students sharpen their intellectual capabilities and make them champions in their life through success in critical academic milestones like IIT, JEE, AIEEE, OLYMPIADS and the like. This academy, has been successfully churning out academic brilliance year after year under the leadership of the famous academician Mr V.V. Rao. Unlike most of the other famous Coaching Curriculum RAO IIT ACADEMY enrolls students right from Class 8 itself. This strategy improves vastly improves the chances of sure shot success in the Competitive Exams.

As a helpful gesture Krishti had offered its own operating space for the classes to be conducted free of cost. With an overwhelming response in enrollment from the last batch, the Krishti’s premises have now become smaller to accommodate the students. Trend shows the enrolment to even increase further from the next session.

Let’s build them to build India.

Krishti Library

Having the benefit of its own premises, Krishti has started its own library. The library has started due to the steadfast efforts of it members and has today hundreds of books in Bengali and English.
The collection also has some old valuable books which are out-of-print and also a plethora of new books donated generously by the patrons and also bought by the organisation.

The whole aim is to pass on our literary culture to the next generation

The facilities will undoubtedly foster more footfall of the Krishti family members in the Club House which will also augment interactions and interrelations which will finally contribute to the cohesion in the Bengali association.
